At the opening convocation of Florida Presbyterian College in the Fall of 1960, the Honorable Leroy Collins, Governor of Florida from 1955-1961, gave a warm welcome and predicted a "long and outstanding career of service" for the college.
Summer of '65 in Sussex
Eckerd's long standing commitment to international education started early when 105 Eckerd students spent 11 weeks during the summer of '65 at the University of Sussex, and throughout Europe.
Eckerd's unique take on Homecoming, dubbed Homelycoming, featured a parade with each dorm decorating a "float", a "PowderPuff" football game and the crowning of the Homelycoming Queen.
