Dr. Grove graduated with a biology degree from the University of California at San Diego before switching to UCLA for his Ph.D. in chemistry. His research interests are in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. He and his students have been successful in their research at Eckerd, and have published several papers based on their work. Dr. Grove came to Eckerd in 1987 and since then has been teaching organic chemistry at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels. He currently chairs the Natural Sciences Collegium at Eckerd College.

Chemistry at Eckerd

The Chemistry Department at Eckerd College offers Bachelor's degrees in chemistry, including a chemistry degree certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). We are one of only two Florida colleges where a student can earn an ACS-certified biochemistry degree. Our students have gone on to careers in fields such as forensics, atmospheric chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry as well as DNA structural research, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine. We've even graduated a professional baseball player and a college president!
