Dr. Soli received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Augsburg College, and his Ph.D., in analytical chemistry, from the University of Wisconsin. After graduate school he worked three years at General Motors as a research scientist before coming to Eckerd College in 1981. At Eckerd he has collaborated with researchers at the University of North Carolina and the University of Tennessee. His current work involves the application of analytical methods, particularly electrochemical techniques, to marine chemistry, and involves active collaboration with marine chemists at the University of South Florida's Bayboro campus. In addition to being part of Eckerd's chemistry department, Dr. Soli is also an Associate Professor of Marine Science. He teaches introductory chemistry classes, analytical chemistry, and instrumental methods of analysis.

Chemistry at Eckerd

The Chemistry Department at Eckerd College offers Bachelor's degrees in chemistry, including a chemistry degree certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). We are one of only two Florida colleges where a student can earn an ACS-certified biochemistry degree. Our students have gone on to careers in fields such as forensics, atmospheric chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry as well as DNA structural research, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine. We've even graduated a professional baseball player and a college president!
