Each year our chemistry majors compete for summer research positions.  This past summer we had two students who won summer internships at NASA's Goddard Center for Astrobiology in Greenbelt, Maryland. The students are shown here at the Goddard Space Flight Center.  Ariel Lewis (left) is now a senior and Lily Raines (right) is a junior. Ariel's research project concerned the analysis of contaminants in the collection of meteorites, while Lily worked on hydrocarbon chemistry and spectroscopy in the outer solar system.
