One of Eckerd College's very first chemistry graduates, Dr Harvey Jeffries from the class of 1964, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree at Eckerd's May, 2007 commencement ceremony. Dr. Jeffries is a world expert in the field of atmospheric chemistry and public policy. He built the world's first outdoor simulation chamber for air-quality research and has received EPA funding continuously since 1971. Dr. Jeffries has taught for over 35 years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is now Professor of Environmental Sciences and Engineering. - Congratulations!
