Eckerd College Welcomes New Chemistry Professor

Dr. Maciejczyk Dr. Maciejczyk received her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Maryland, and her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Rowan University. She also did undergraduate work at Urals State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia. Dr. Maciejczyk's research interests are in the area of atmospheric chemistry, meteorology, and air pollution. Through chemical analysis and statistical modeling she investigates the sources of metals in ambient particles and their effects on human health. At Eckerd College, Dr. Maciejczyk teaches courses in general chemistry, both lecture and lab.

Chemistry at Eckerd

The Chemistry Department at Eckerd College offers Bachelor's degrees in chemistry, including a chemistry degree certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS). We are one of only two Florida colleges where a student can earn an ACS-certified biochemistry degree. Our students have gone on to careers in fields such as forensics, atmospheric chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry as well as DNA structural research, cosmetic chemistry, and medicine. We've even graduated a professional baseball player and a college president!
