China Research

Welcome to the 2011 edition of the Eckerd China Research blog! In spring 2008, Eckerd College received a grant from the the National Science Foundation (NSF), the International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) competition, to fund five students for each of three consecutive summers to do research in China with faculty at either Xiamen University or Hong Kong Baptist University. This summer (2011), Marine science majors Maxine Tan and Gabrial Workman will be doing research in Marine Science at Xiamen University and Marine Science major Nichole Clark will be doing research at Hong Kong Baptist University. Dr. David Duncan will be the faculty adviser this summer. While in China, the students will be blogging their cultural and scientific experiences; upon return, the students will share their experience with students in Pinellas County schools as well as with peers on campus.
