Participating Organizations | Focus of Research | Cultural Outings | Students Wishing to Inquire

An interdisciplinary study abroad project for Winter Term 2012 is currently being planned that will combine the International Business discipline with Chinese Culture Area Studies. Our project will take 25 students to the fastest growing economic region in the world... China and visit two of its most dynamic business and political centers, Shanghai and Beijing.

As more Multinational Corporations enter this large, emerging market of 1.3 billion people, they will be faced with many opportunities and challenges. This course will explore Chinese culture and suggest ways that western organizations from North America and Europe will need to adapt given the changing cultural mindset of young, educated Chinese today.

Eckerd College students will examine the human resource function of several organizations and explore how their management styles have had to adapt in China as managers hire, train, supervise and develop compensation and motivation programs.
