Dr. Kerr received his Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. He taught at the University of North Carolina in Asheville and Western New England College before coming to Eckerd. His research interests include nonlinear functional analysis, control theory and perturbation theory. He served as President of the Florida Section of the Mathematical Association of America in 2002-2003 and as Governor of the section from 2004-2007. He is an accomplished weight lifter on the bench press with a PR of 325 lbs.
