Dr. Chen teaches courses in Asian Politics, including the Government and Politics of China, East Asian Comparative Politics, East Asian International Relations, and The Pacific Century. Dr. Chen’s dissertation “Making Decentralized Authoritarianism Work: the Petition System in China” argues that the petition system in China provides a channel for its citizens to inform the central government about the corrupt behavior of local officials. Dr. Chen has published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, including China Information and The Journal of Contemporary China.
