Mac is the old-timer of the department, having been at Eckerd since 1968. He received his doctorate in biopsychology from Kansas State University, where his research focused on limbic system contributions to complex behaviors. After coming to Eckerd, Mac's research interests shifted from animal studies to the psychology and psychophysiology of stress. Most recently, he has been studying the evolutionary mechanisms underlying human altruism. He has published more than 40 articles over the years and has written a statistics textbook. Mac has identical 18- year old twin boys, Sean and Dan, who are constantly providing exciting examples of the dynamic interaction of genetics and environment in shaping behavior. Mac teaches the statistics and research methodology courses, the human learning and cognition course, and a course in evolutionary psychology. You can e-mail him at macdoujm@eckerd.edu.
