Visual Arts at Eckerd College
Although we inhabit the southern tip of an urbanized peninsula, at times we see wild green parakeets flying noisily overhead, or a group of white ibises busily foraging as they walk the grounds, or a great blue heron or white egrets wading in the pond by the art building, waiting patiently for an unsuspecting fish to swim by. In the early morning we may watch as a roseate spoonbill or a wood stork lifts off after feeding at the water's edge, and in the evening we may catch a glimpse of a raccoon, or an elusive marsh rabbit. A short walk from our facilities is Boca Ciega Bay, which opens out to the Gulf of Mexico. In this Florida setting exists the Ransom Arts Center, home to the Visual Arts Department of Eckerd College.
