There is no place like home... except for Eckerd
When I first arrived at Eckerd I was a little timid because I was so far away from my family. Fortunately, Eckerd provided a meet and greet session with other transfer students, which made me feel more comfortable with my transition. Being me and expressing my ideas and thoughts was encouraged. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and I realized that I had no reason to be so timid. After a few weeks at Eckerd, I considered it my home away from home.
Favorite Classes
Although I was a Communication major at Eckerd, I was able to take classes that were not part of my major requirements. I have always wanted to get involved in theatre and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes. I decided to branch out a little and take a theatre class called The Human Instrument, taught by the one and only Professor Cynthia Totten. Not only did I enjoy the class, but I also loved Professor Totten's free-spirited teaching method. Winter Term of 2009 marked the end of my college career at Eckerd. I decided to finish up with another theatre course called Comedy and Laughter, taught by Professor Totten. Both of the classes I took with her were my favorite classes at Eckerd. Theatre was a new experience for me and I had so much fun while learning a lot about the fundamentals. Thank you, Professor Totten!
A beach on campus?! NO WAY!!!
As a student-athlete at Eckerd College, free time was hard to come by; but when I did get a little extra time I made my way down to the campus beach, which I could see right outside of my dorm window. Lying in a hammock on the beach was my escape from all of the school work, deadlines, and tough practices. I could tease my friends back in Georgia by telling them that my college was their spring break. Still don't believe it? Plan a visit to come see for yourself!
