Where are you now and what are you doing?
I am the Medical Director of one of the largest not for profit hospices in the country. We are one of the top one hundred hospices per family satisfaction and patient care in the nation.
What does your job entail and how has your Eckerd experience impacted your career?
My Eckerd experience prepared me with both social skills, work ethic and academic knowledge. Eckerd taught me to be a team player and how to be a leader. It also taught me to stand up for what is right and that the right path is not always the easiest path.
What unique or special opportunities did your Eckerd education provide and how have they impacted your life?
Playing on the volleyball team taught me how to work in a team environment. It taught me the value of hard work and how to continue to try, even if you fail you need to get up and try again.
Describe some of your best memories or favorite traditions from your time at Eckerd.
Kon Tiki Raft Race, traveling with my volleyball team to games and tournaments, Homelycoming, and the Bullshit Ballet.
What makes Eckerd so special or why does it stand out to you as a great college? What does it mean to you now that you have been away for awhile?
Eckerd is a family environment. We were able to continue to grow in a family type atmosphere, which encouraged us to try new things. We were so close that we helped each other in good and bad times.

Are there core Eckerd values you see in most Eckerd students and graduates?
Eckerd graduates tend to be very open-minded and care about others.
What activities were you involved in while at Eckerd and did they influence what you are involved in now?
Volleyball, student court, resident director, young republicans.
Why did you choose Eckerd? What advice would you give students who are considering Eckerd?
I chose Eckerd because I wanted to go to a small college. I wanted a college where everything was contained on campus. There are no graduate students so all the teaching is done by the professors. I felt safe on the Eckerd campus.
What else should we know about you or what else would you like to share with us?
I have been married for 22 years to Roger Brito. We met in medical school. We have two children Roger age 17 and Nicole age 15. Nicole has already made a trip to Eckerd to tour the campus.
