What can I do during my visit?

Individual campus visits include a student-led campus tour and a meeting with an Admission Counselor. The Eckerd College Admission Office offers interviews to high school seniors and transfer students, and juniors on a space available basis. The interview is a good way for us to learn more about you, and for you to learn more about us, in a one-on-one setting. Information sessions, led by an Admission Counselor, are available to high school sophomores. You can also choose to attend any of the following on your visit:

Class Visits and Faculty Appointments

Juniors, seniors and transfers may request a class visit or appointment with a faculty member. Please provide us with several areas of interest as we may not be able to accommodate your first choice. When meeting with a professor, come with questions! The expectation is that you will lead the discussion and have your questions answered about our diverse degree programs. Due to our unique academic calendar, class visits are not possible in January or during the summer, and limited faculty appointments are available.

Lunch with a student

Enjoy a meal on us at the cafeteria! This is another opportunity for you to meet a member of the Eckerd community and learn more about what it is like to be a student here. Your family is welcome to join you at a discounted rate of $5 per person.

Boat Tour of Boca Ciega Bay

Experience campus from a completely different perspective with a boat tour of Boca Ciega Bay! Boat tours are available midday on various Fridays throughout the academic school year. The tours leave from the Wallace Boathouse under the direction of a Waterfront Program staff member or student, though we do appreciate you stopping by the Office of Admission first to check-in. The whole excursion should take approximately 45 minutes. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance by calling our office or by filling out our online visit registration form. Boat tours may be canceled due to inclement weather.

Evenings at Eckerd

Going to be in the area for a day or two? If so, spend an evening at Eckerd! Throughout the year, Eckerd hosts speakers and performers from around the world and we invite you take part in these community events. Most events do not require tickets and there is no sign-up required. Some of the recent guests we have had include former poet laureate Billy Collins, Gloria Steinem, the Harlem Gospel Choir and author and humanitarian Elie Wiesel, who is a distinguished visiting professor at the College during Winter Term. As part of Evenings at Eckerd you can also become a member of the South Beach Supper Club - a group of students that meets on select Sundays during fall semester for a barbeque on our beach!

When can I visit?

The Admission Office is open all year long, but it is best to come when we are fully in session (September 1 - December 4 and February 2 - May 14) so that you can tour our beautiful, waterfront campus with a current student and see Eckerd when it is in full swing! Except for certain holidays, we are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. every weekday, and on most Saturday mornings during the school year (late September through May) from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. During the summer we are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Of course, if you cannot make it during our office hours, please feel free to tour campus on your own. Stop by our office for a map and self-guided walking tour.
