The Annual Fund supports student scholarships, academic
resources and learning tools. The fund is the primary means for
members of the Eckerd College community to support current
students.
Eckerd depends on the support that Annual Fund provides to
continue its tradition of excellence in educational opportunities.
Because Eckerd is a private liberal arts college, gifts made to the
Annual Fund are extremely important, as tuition alone does not
cover the cost for students. In fact, tuition covers only about 60%
of the total cost of an education. The rest must be generated
through gifts to the Annual Fund, grants, and endowment
income.
Alumni and the Annual Fund
Alumni contributions to the Annual Fund are important in helping
Eckerd’s current students and also ensuring the College’s future
success. Alumni participation in the Annual Fund is taken into
account when colleges are being ranked; foundations and
corporations also review alumni participation when considering
Eckerd for large grants. Participation in the Annual Fund is the
voice our alumni use to show others they valued their time and
experiences at Eckerd and wish for others to have the same
experience. Because of the immediate influence Annual Fund
donations have on today’s students and the long term impact future
grants can have on the College’s future, alumni participation truly
helps today and tomorrow.
Why Give to the Annual Fund?
Giving to the Annual Fund is the best way to meet the immediate
needs of Eckerd’s students. Each year, Annual Fund dollars help
many of Eckerd’s students through scholarship assistance. This
year, 94% of Eckerd’s current students are receiving financial aid.
As higher education costs increase, the need for Annual Fund
support is becoming increasing important.
Who Gives to Eckerd?
Our donors are just as diverse as our student body. They
include: Churches, Corporations, Faculty, Foundations, Friends,
Parents, Staff, Trustees, and most importantly – Alumni.
All of our donors enhance the opportunities that make Eckerd
College the national liberal arts college it is today.
