Eckerd junior outside hitter Lydee Benoit has been named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team while right side hitter Ariana Chinn has been tabbed to the SSC All-Freshman Team as announced by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

Four players, including two off the bench, amassed double figure point totals while four others had at least seven points as the Eckerd Tritons (2-0) defeated the Florida Memorial Lions (0-1) by a score of 87-71 on Monday evening at the McArthur Center.

The Eckerd College women’s volleyball team (20-13) has earned its third consecutive NCAA Tournament bid as the fifth seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II South Region Tournament. The Tritons will battle the West Florida Argonauts, the fourth seed and first-time winners of the Gulf South Conference title, at 5pm on Thursday, November 20 at the Bob Martinez Center on the campus of the University of Tampa.

After three tie scores and eight lead changes to begin the second half, resulting, in a 49-49 score, the Eckerd Tritons (1-0) would go on a 27-14 run to build a 76-63 lead with 1:28 left to play en route to defeating the Flagler Saints (0-1) by the score of 82-67 on Saturday night at the McArthur Center.

Freshman guard Jordan Stacey had a stellar collegiate debut, coming off the bench to register a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, while adding five assists as the Eckerd Tritons (1-0) opened the 2008-09 campaign with a victory over the Webber International Warriors (1-1) by the score of 88-52 on Saturday night at the McArthur Center. Stacey joined five Tritons who accumulated double digit point totals.

Lynn outside hitter Camila Lins racked up a whopping 18 kills and hit .552 to lead the Lynn Fighting Knights (24-12, 9-6 SSC) past the Eckerd Tritons (20-13, 8-8 SSC) in straight sets on Friday evening at Lynn’s deHornle Center (25-23, 27-25, 25-19).
