Eckerd senior midfielder Sarah Bird scored her third goal in two games and recorded at least a point for the third consecutive game as the Eckerd Tritons (2-1) fell to the North Alabama Lions (2-2) by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the McCusker Sports Complex on the campus of Lynn University.

Following a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Ferris State (4-1), a match in which Eckerd led 2-1, the Tritons’ (4-3) offense broke out in a big way, hitting for a .323 attack percentage in a three-game sweep over the Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks (2-3) on Friday afternoon at the University of Tampa’s Bob Martinez Center.

Eckerd College junior outside hitter Regi Silva scored a “three-of-a-kind” on Thursday night, going for seven kills, seven digs, and a whopping seven service aces as the Tritons (3-2) defeated the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves by a score of 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 25-19) at the McArthur Center in the team’s home-opener.

Eckerd junior forward Luke Sheekey scored three goals and assisted on a late Dan Parker goal to lead the Tritons (2-1) over the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (2-1) on Wednesday night at Magic Jack Field.

Eckerd College Sports Information Director Guy Harrison has announced the schedule for the Fall season on the Tritons Radio Network in conjunction with Stretch Internet. The schedule begins on Thursday, September 4 with women’s volleyball’s home opener at 7pm against Colorado State-Pueblo.

Less than 24 hours after beating USC-Aiken, Eckerd (1-1) lost in convincing fashion to the Lander Bobcats (1-0). The Bobcats were ranked 18th in the NSCAA preseason poll and, on Sunday afternoon, played as advertised, beating the Tritons by a score of 5-0 at the Lander Soccer Field.
