Eckerd College placed 59 student-athletes on the Spring 2008 Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll released on Monday afternoon. Out of the 59 Tritons that qualified, three posted perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Jim Mecir was inducted into the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2008 on Saturday night at the Walt Disney World Hilton in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Eckerd College finished in 188th-place in the final 2007-08 U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup standings, released earlier this week in Dallas, Texas. Eckerd had a total of 50 points to finish tied with eight other NCAA Division II institutions.

The Eckerd College volleyball team announced the addition of eight new players to the 2008 squad on Monday. This is the largest recruiting class to date for Head Coach Courtney Draper, who is entering her fifth season at the helm of the Tritons. After advancing to the NCAA Tournament for two consecutive seasons, where the Tritons won over 20 games each year, Draper will look to veteran leadership and a solid recruiting class to enter deeper into the tournament this fall.

The Eckerd College Department of Athletics, led by Director Dr. Bob Fortosis, gathered all of the Eckerd College Student-Athletes for one final time in the 2007-08 school year to honor and thank them for a great year of competition.

The Eckerd College baseball team ended their season in style as they split a doubleheader with visiting Rollins College. Combine the split with last night's victory and Eckerd claims the final Sunshine State Conference series of the 2008 season. The Tritons dropped the opener 21-0 but rebounded behind some fine pitching to claim the finale 7-3.
