Men's Basketball Uses Balance to Beat Back Lions

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Four players, including two off the bench, amassed double figure point totals while four others had at least seven points as the Eckerd Tritons (2-0) defeated the Florida Memorial Lions (0-1) by a score of 87-71 on Monday evening at the McArthur Center.

Reserve guard Joey Cantens led the Tritons with 12 points while Trevor Lee and Lewis Lampley each scored 11 points.

The Tritons were in control of the game from wire-to-wire, starting the game on an 11-3 run. Eckerd led by as much as 25 points at one point in the first half.

Adio Mutima led all players with eight total rebounds while Lampley dished out six assists. Wayne Sears came off the bench to pour in nine points while Dale Carn, who was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week earlier in the day, added eight points and seven rebounds.

The Tritons will return to the hardwood on Friday, November 21 as they host the Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Gaillitos at 7:30pm at the McArthur Center.
