Expanding Our Reach
"It really shook me to my core."
Though the words may differ, this sentiment is shared by countless students who studied abroad while at Eckerd. Although 60 percent of Eckerd students now study abroad on academic and service learning trips, the College feels so strongly about the benefits of international education and the opportunity for every student to be exposed to different cultures that the College aims for study abroad to be an expected part of every student's educational experience. To make this a reality, scholarship and program support are needed. With the hundreds of international study programs available -- Eckerd's long-loved London Study Centre, the newly created China Study Center in Xiamen and the Puebla Study Center scheduled to open in Mexico in 2009 -- the College is extending its reach and spreading the Eckerd spirit around the world.
Literature and International Relations and Global Affairs major Ren Dylewicz talks about her experiences studying abroad.
