Staff Member of the Year
September 6, 2006
Each year the Staff Council, which is broadly representative of offices across the campus, through the Staff Member of the Year Committee, seeks out individuals deserving of the Staff Member of the Year Award. The recipient of the award receives a plaque and a check.
This year's recipient of the Staff Member of the Year Award has been the mainstay for two of the college's most important areas. The College is also proud to claim her as an alumna. After her graduation she began her career at the Arts Center of St. Petersburg and she remains a practicing sculptor. She soon joined the staff at Eckerd as department coordinator of the visual arts, a role that was quickly expanded to include the management of the Elliott Gallery in the Ransom Arts Center. In this capacity she not only had a significant hand in arranging, publicizing and maintaining all public exhibitions of art in Elliott Gallery, but also assumed responsibility for matting, framing and distributing a number of the artworks that grace various office and lobby walls throughout the campus.
As collegial secretary for the Creative Arts Collegium, an appointment she has filled for the past two years, she now serves the greater Eckerd arts community with grace and efficiency. For her 18 years of faithful service in helping to enrich all of our lives with art, please join me in saluting as staff member of the year for 2006: Chris McLean
