Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award

The John M. Bevan Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award is named in honor of the College's founding academic dean. The purpose of the award is to honor individual faculty members for nurturing a campus climate that fosters teaching at its best. The recipient receives a citation and a check.
I am very pleased to announce that the recipient this year is Professor of Economics, Diana L. Fuguitt.
For your key role in the College's development of emergency planning, particularly with regard to strategies for continuing delivery of the academic program;
For your wise and sustained leadership as chair of the Behavioral Sciences Collegium;
For your thoughtful mentoring of new faculty as they enter the professional evaluation process;
For your strategic thinking about the continuing development of the curriculum and faculty staffing, especially in the emergence of Environmental Studies;
For your dedication as a teacher and mentor to high standards and the intellectual growth of your students in both economics and general education;
For productive scholarship resulting in the publication of your book on cost-benefit analysis;
For your leadership role on a host of faculty committees;
And for preserving the College's wellbeing, whether from wind and water, or ignorance and ineptitutde, by your unexcelled record of conscientious, meticulous, unflagging, and insightful attention,
Eckerd College presents the John M. Bevan Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award to Diana L. Fuguitt, Professor of Economics.
