Staff Member of the Year
September 5, 2007
Each year the Staff Council, which is broadly representative of offices across the campus, through the Staff Member of the Year Committee, seeks out individuals deserving of the Staff Member of the Year Award. The recipient of the award receives a plaque and a check.
This year's recipient of the Staff Member of the Year Award studied economics as an undergraduate and was a member of the Honors Program. While a student, he received both Presidential and Church and Campus Scholarships. After graduating, he spent the next three years recruiting students for his alma mater. He then enrolled in the higher education program at the University of Michigan and received his Master of Arts degree. For five years, he worked for the Great Lakes Colleges Association, a consortium of 12 private liberal arts colleges located in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. He then returned to his Alma Mater where for the last nine years he has assisted in raising funds to support the College. His work includes completing briefing information; overseeing gift administration; managing use of the BANNER database system; serving as liaison with the finance office, financial aid office and other departments to ensure endowment distributions are correctly allocated; supporting the work of gift officers; and producing stewardship reports for endowment donors and contacts. Active at First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg, he is an Elder and has served on many church committees; he currently serves on the Pastor Nominating Committee to bring a new Head Pastor to the Church.
For his devotion to the wellbeing of Eckerd College over many years and his effective work in the critical role of Director of Advancement Services, please join me in saluting as staff member of the year for 2007: Scott Rivinius.
