Staff Member of the Year
September 3, 2008
The Staff Member of the Year Award is presented each year to a member of the Eckerd College staff who has demonstrated initiative, creativity or extra effort beyond his or her normal duties for a sustained period of time and has had a significant positive impact on the life of the College. The recipient of the reward receives a plaque and a check.
This year's recipient of the Staff Member of the Year Award is an Eckerd alumna and mother of an alumna. She has been employed by Eckerd for almost two decades as Acquisitions Assistant for Technical Services at the Library. This has involved the efficient ordering of and timely payment for the steady flow of materials so essential to the library's operation. Since joining the library, she has also assumed the responsibility beyond her assigned duties of preserving the history of the College by organizing the College archives. She has been a key contributor of materials to the 50th anniversary celebration, often by working through her lunch hour or staying after work to find materials needed on the website. She has responded to increasingly frequent requests for photos, early financial information, news clippings, and many other materials from trustees, Advancement, Alumni Relations, Communications, faculty members, and the Web Dudes, among others. Her contributions to the College have been important and her performance has gone well beyond the call of duty. Please join me in saluting as Staff Member of the Year for 2008, Catherine McCoy.
