Specialized Accommodation Requests

In addition to classroom-based academic accommodations, Accessible Education Services also oversees accommodations granted in on-campus residence halls and dining plans due to a disabling condition.  Eckerd College has developed specific protocols for managing these accommodation requests so that concerns can be reasonably accommodated and students can participate fully in the College’s academic and co-curricular program.

These procedures are outlined in the pages that follow, and specifically address specialized housing accommodations, emotional support animals and service animals, and meal plan exemptions.  Questions regarding any of the procedures may be directed to Accessible Education Services’ staff at 727-864-8248 or aes@eckerd.edu.

New Student Guide to AES

Eckerd College is devoted to providing support services that enable students with disabilities to participate in, and benefit from, all College programs and activities. The information on this page is designed to assist first year students and their families in understanding the differences between the guidelines established for disability accommodations in secondary school versus post-secondary school.
