Programs & Services
The Office of Health Promotion sponsors many ongoing programs that promote health and wellness on campus. Take advantage of the many free opportunities this office provides.
AlcoholEdu is a comprehensive alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention program. The course aims to educate students, not preach to them, about alcohol and its effects on the mind and body. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College empowers students to make well-informed decisions and better cope with the drinking behavior of their peers.
The course includes five modules of alcohol-related content, personalized feedback, interactive exercises, and access to a student social networking site.
Please note: ALL incoming students are REQUIRED to complete AlcoholEdu. You will receive an email in your Eckerd College email account explaining how to access the course and instructions. Contact Megan Coy, Coordinator of Health Promotion, by email or 727-864-8031 with any questions or concerns.
The condom is the only form of contraception that is also highly effective at reducing the risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections - including HIV. Free condoms are available at the Counseling & Health Services Office located in Edmundson Hall (in the basket by the front entrance). Lube, latex-free, female, and flavored condoms are available upon request from the Office of Health Promotion.
Get yourself tested! Free HIV testing is available to students twice a month during the school year. Testing is done using an oral swab (no needles!) and you receive the results the following test date. For more information, contact the Office of Health Promotion.
Everything you need to prepare for a successful quit attempt. Order a kit today to be delivered to your campus office or mailbox, or stop by our office in Edmundson Hall to pick one up. Free for students, faculty, staff, and contracted employees. To order, contact the Office of Health Promotion.
The Office of Health Promotion in Brown Hall has a wide variety of materials for distribution to students. We encourage you to come by and keep yourself informed about the issues concerning your health. Furthermore, information on almost any health issue can be delivered to your campus mailbox in a concealed envelope by contacting the Office of Health Promotion.
Health and Wellness presentations are available to students, RAs, faculty, and staff. Some topics include stress management, body image, safe sex, and nutrition. Other presentations can be created to meet the needs of your students.
Faculty can take advantage of the "Don't Cancel That Class!" program. Instead of canceling a class, schedule an educational wellness program sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs. Contact Megan Coy to schedule a program. Presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of your students and the time available for your class.
