Getting Down and Dirty - Dirt! The Movie
When: February 26, 2009, 7 pm
Credits
Director: Gene Rosow and Bill Berenson
Based on the book by William Bryant Logan
Length: 90 mins
One of the most entertaining and inspirational documentaries to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year deals with a seemingly mundane subject: dirt. What the film shows is that there is nothing plain or ordinary about the dirt beneath our feet. Not only is dirt responsible for sustaining the processes of growth, decay and regeneration that make life possible, it is also in a very real sense itself alive. Loosely adapted from William Bryant Logan's highly praised meditation on earth - Dirt: The Ecstatic Skin of the Earth - the film is both funny and enlightening. The talented documentary filmmaker Gene Rosow, who directed the film along with Bill Berenson, will be here to introduce the film and discuss it afterwards.
