Margaret Atwood's visionary work Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth is the basis for this riveting and poetic documentary on "debt" in its various forms - societal, personal, environmental, spiritual, criminal, and of course, economic.
The film will be introduced by Dr. James Deutsch, a program curator at the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, and an adjunct professor of American Studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He has been a regular contributor to programs of the Environmental Film Festival.
