17 years of compelling films about nature, place and the environment
Join film scholars and filmmakers from around the world to discuss “Visions of Nature/Voices of Nature” — environmental perspectives contained in documentary, animated, experimental and feature films. Organizers discussed this year’s films with local media (Bay News 9 and WTSP).
All programs are free and open to the general public and are held in the Dan and Mary Miller Auditorium on the Eckerd College campus.
"gorgeous…it just brings joy to your heart to see such naturalism on screen"− Margaret Pomeranz, At the Movies (Australia)
"a seamless melding of history's dark undertow and a child's indefatigable optimism"− Sheri Linden, The Los Angeles Times
"a total crowd-pleaser, deserving of its wild praise"− Cinemblend (US)
We are very excited to announce the winners of the 2014 Visions of Nature/Voices of Nature Awards. We had an exciting festival, with packed theaters, and appreciative audiences.
Our guest speakers informed and entertained us, and their films exposed us to new ways of thinking about our connections with the natural world. Our awards this year recognize films that were able to educate at the same time as they entertained and surprised audiences, provoking strong reactions and insightful questions.
