Born in the Bronx of Russian immigrant parents, his novels deal with moral dilemmas and, in some instances, the Jewish experience. Learn about his life and works. Study how his novels transition into film and explore how they are changed (or not).

The era of big bands produced large numbers of female singers who started out as standup vocalists. Learn how they moved from the front of the band and became the lead attraction. Enjoy lecture, vintage recordings and an evening of live music.
