Traditional Rooms

Located throughout campus, and convenient to all students, traditional housing is the most popular living facility at Eckerd College. Several traditional houses have specific themes which are listed below. Traditional houses are arranged co-ed by floor, except for the All-Female houses. With a Resident Advisor in each house, these houses are always the first home away from home to all incoming freshmen as well as many upperclassmen.

The dimensions for the rooms within the houses listed below are 11' x 16'. Some of the rooms are slightly larger (219 sq. ft.), and some slightly smaller (171 sq. ft.).

There are several rooms in the Kappa and Zeta complexes that measure 196 sq. ft., and 153 sq ft. as well. The closets for these rooms are about 6'6" x 8' x 7'.

All campus housing is smoke-free

Traditional Themed Houses

Community Service Housing
For those students who are interested in participating in community service projects throughout the academic year.

Environmental Housing
The Environmental Housing option is for those students who are interested in the idea of environmental sustainability through active house projects, and an atmosphere of environmental education and awareness.

Gender Neutral Housing
The Gender Neutral Housing option provides a safe and comfortable living situation for people who do not identify with the binary concept of gender, which is limited to either “male” or “female.” The removal of gender or sex specific labels in Gender Neutral Housing allows people of non-binary gender identities (ex. transgender, agender, bigender, transexual, gender fluid, pangender) as well as gay, lesbian and bisexual students who would prefer living with a friend of the opposite sex and/or gender to choose a roommate they feel comfortable with in housing where they can safely and openly express their gender identity.

Animal Friendly Housing
For those students who would like to have registered family pets living on campus with them, or who will not be bringing a pet, but would like to live in a Pet House. Please see the Eckerd Pet Policy for more information.

Health and Wellness Housing
For those students interested in an environment that promotes health and wellness, including smoke-free and substance-free living, along with wellness programming.

All Female Housing
For female students who wish to live in an all-female environment. **
