Animal/Small Pet Registration

Amimal Registration

What is an animal?
Cats, dogs (under 40 pounds), rabbits, ducks, large birds, ferrets, and chinchillas are considered Animals, and must be properly registered with Pet Life before residing on campus.The acquisition of a dog or cat, purchased, fostered, adopted, or stray, while a residential student at Eckerd is prohibited.

What is a small pet?
Fish, small birds, rats, hedgehogs, hamsters, sugar gliders, gerbils, guinea pigs, amphibians, and small reptiles are considered Small Pets and must be properly registered with the Pet Life Staff before residing on campus. Small Pets can be registered online or in the Pet Life Office located in Brown Hall. Small Pets are permitted in all housing complexes.

What is a visiting animal?
Any Animal being brought onto campus for day visits. This includes family Animals being brought onto campus by parents, siblings, guardians, etc. for any period of time. Visiting Animals are not allowed to reside on campus overnight without prior approval. All Visiting Animals must be registered with Pet Life, prior to being brought on campus. Visiting Animals can be registered online or in the Pet Life Office located in Brown Hall.

Amimal/Small Pet Registration Guidelines

Residential Students:

  • Animals must live in designated Animal Housing
  • A valid photo of the Animal must be submitted to Pet Life with registration.
  • All Animals must have all appropriate vaccinations and/or a Certificate of Good Health.
  • Cats and dogs require vet verification of Spay/Neuter Procedure, weight (under 40 lbs.), age (at least one year old), length of ownership (at least 10 months), and breed.
  • Must attend the Animal Registration Event, which takes place at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Semesters.
  • A $125 Residential Animal Registration Fee will be applied to Student Accounts.

Off-Campus Students:

  • A valid photo of the Animal must be submitted to Pet Life with registration.
  • All Animals must have all appropriate vaccinations and/or a Certificate of Good Health.
  • Cats and dogs require vet verification of Spay/Neuter Procedure, weight (under 40 lbs.), age (at least one year old), length of ownership (at least 10 months), and breed.
  • Must attend the Animal Registration Event, which takes place at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Semesters.
  • A $50 Off-Campus Commuter Student Animal Registration Fee will be applied to Student Accounts.

Residential Live-On Staff:

  • Residential Live-On Staff must live in Animal Friendly Housing, Traditional Complex Apartments, or Traditional Complex Guest Rooms.
  • A valid photo of the Animals must be submitted to Pet Life with registration.
  • All Animals must have all appropriate vaccinations and/or a Certificate of Good Health.
  • Cats and dogs require vet verification of Spay/Neuter Procedure, weight (under 40 lbs.), age (at least one year old), length of ownership (at least 10 months), and breed.
  • Must attend the Animal Registration Event, which takes place at the beginning of the Fall and Spring Semesters.
  • Please note, Animals/Small Pets are not allowed in classrooms or offices(except Brown Hall offices)
  • No fee is charged for Staff Animal Registration.

  • A valid photo of the Animals must be submitted to Pet Life with registration.
  • All Animals must have all appropriate vaccinations and/or a Certificate of Good Health.

  • Please note, Animals/Small Pets are not allowed in classrooms.

Beta, Delta and Zeta Lounge Renovations

With the success of the recently renovated Zeta Lounge, the lounges of the Beta and Delta complexes have also been renovated, featuring an enhanced kitchen area, flat screen TV with surround sound and ample study and meeting space along with new couches, chairs and barstool seating.
