Health benefits at Eckerd fall into one of four categories: medical, vision, dental and employee assistance (EAP). Please select one of the links below to learn more about a specific feature of the health benefits package.
Health insurance allows you or your covered dependents to be compensated for costs incurred as a result of illness or accident. The nature and extent of this compensation is contingent on certain conditions being met as outlined in the plan description for the insurance you select.
Health insurance is available through Florida Blue. There are three plans to choose from, HMO (Health Maintenance Organization), PPO (Preferred Provider Organization), and the HDHP/HSA (High Deductible Health Plan with Health Savings Account). You have the option of changing your enrollment during the Open Enrollment Period.
The specific Florida Blue plan names offered at Eckerd are BlueCare HMO, BlueChoice PPO, and Blue Options HDHP/HSA. For a comparison of the plans please click the below links.
Davis Vision Discount

Eckerd College offers Dental Benefits through Florida Combined Life. Employees are eligible for these benefits on their date of hire, and can enroll by completing an enrollment form. Dependent coverage is available. Employees may change their coverage during the annual open enrollment period.
The Dental plan is a PPO, and the benefit reimbursement differs when utilizing in network versus out of network providers. The summary schedule of benefits for the plan is provided below, for more detailed information contact the Human Resources Office.
Eckerd Provides access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Ceridian LifeWorks - a local provider of a range of behavioral health services. Through the EAP, employees and their families are offered up to six counseling sessions per year.
