Life Insurance Benefits

Eckerd College provides Group Life Insurance benefits to all employees. Basic coverage given to all eligible Eckerd employees at no additional cost. Optional coverage can be purchased at additional cost and is described below. A life insurance manual is available from the Human Resources Office that describes the plan in detail. Some plan basics are described below.

Basic Life Insurance

Basic coverage ensures a benefit equal to one times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

Optional Life Insurance

Option 1
An amount equal 1 times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

Option 2
An amount equal to 2 times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

*The combined amount for Basic and Optional Life Insurance shall not exceed $1,000,000.

Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - Full Amount

An amount equal to 1 times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - Full Amount

Option 1
An amount equal to 1 times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

Option 2
An amount equal to 2 times the covered employee's annual earnings. If not a multiple of $1,000, this amount will be rounded to the next higher multiple of $1,000.

Additional Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

What is the Employee Seat Belt Benefit?
Maximum Benefit Amount: 10% of Full Amount up to $5,000

What is the Employee Air Bag Benefit?
Maximum Benefit Amount: 10% of Full Amount up to $5,000
