Retirement Annuity

Eckerd offers a defined contribution plan, or 403(b). Within this plan, Eckerd College contributes a percentage of your regular base gross earnings into an annuity provider selected by the employee. Contributions begin the first of the month following the completion of one year of employment with Eckerd College. The one year waiting period is waived if the employee was previously employed for one year or more in a full-time capacity at another higher educational institution. Faculty must be under contract to teach five or more regular courses to be eligible.

Supplemental Retirement Annuity

In addition to the percentage contributed by Eckerd on behalf of the employee, employees have the option of setting up their own retirement annuity through the TIAA-CREF. This supplement to Eckerd's contribution can be elected on an employee's date of hire. This is a pre-tax employee contribution. As with the main retirement annuity, enrollment is not automatic; employees wishing to participate in the supplemental retirement annuity should make an appointment with the TIAA-CREF Representative.

Voluntary Early Retirement Incentive Program for Tenured Faculty

Tenured faculty with at least 15-years of service and at least age 60 prior to September 1st of the initial year of participation are eligible. The program requires that the terminal year of participation be completed no later than the academic year (through August 31st) that the faculty member reaches age 65.
