Employment Classifications

Employment Categories
Faculty
Persons who are directly engaged in the academic program, usually in teaching, professional research, and/or professional library work. Faculty are classified as Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Instructor, Adjunct, Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Instructor and Visiting Assistant Professor.
Continuing Part-Time
Faculty who are employed under a part-time contract for teaching four (4) or five (5) courses for the nine month period that school is in session.
Executive and Administrative Staff with Faculty Status
Persons employed in positions with faculty status and appropriate faculty classification for a specifically designated period as determined by the President or his/her designee. These persons may offer courses or independent studies only with the approval of the Dean of Faculty and appropriate collegia in consultation with representatives of relevant discipline(s). They are not included in tenure provisions or hexennial leave programs.
Executive Staff
Persons engaged in general administration selected by the President.
Administrative Staff
Persons engaged in general administration and supervision of specific major functions and who report directly to members of the Executive Staff.
Support Staff
Persons employed in exempt classification other than faculty, executive or administrative positions.
Support Staff (Non-Exempt)
Persons employed in non-exempt classifications other than faculty, executive or administrative.
Full-Time Regular Employees
Faculty employed under a full-time faculty contract for the nine-month or ten-month period that the college is in session, or Non-faculty staff (Executive, Administrative, Support Staff (Exempt), and Support Staff (Non-Exempt)) employed at least 30 hours per week in a 10 or 12 month established position.
Part-Time Regular Employees
Non-faculty staff (Executive, Administrative, Support Staff (Exempt), and Support Staff (Non-Exempt) employed on a normal day-to-day basis, but for less than 30 hours per week.
Temporary Employees
A person employed to work full or part-time with the understanding that his employment will be terminated on a specific date or upon completing a specific assignment. Temporary employees with teaching responsibilities will be known as adjunct faculty.
