. . . . .home of the Bloomsbury Group, consisting of artists, writers, critics, economists, and thinkers. Virginia Woolf was a prominent member of this group, along with the likes of John Maynard Keynes, Vanessa Bell and more.
Join Professor Jared Stark who will serve as Director-in-Residence at the London Study Centre for the semester. Professor Stark will teach the required course, The British Seminar, the Global Perspective, and will also teach Fictions of Empire (LII 331) in which students will study major works of English and Anglophone literature reflecting the cultural conditions and consequences of British Imperialism, from Shakespeare to Doris Lessing. Focus on the role and and image of London in the literature of empire. This course fulfills the Humanities Area Requirement.
