Winter Term
Each January students have approximately 15 off-campus destinations in which to spend a winter term in courses designed and led by Eckerd faculty. Others use the winter term to pursue independent study in a specific area of interest or attend classes offered on campus.
Duration
Each off-campus course is three weeks in duration, with classes on campus prior to departure.
Cost
Students are required to pay the cost of travel, accommodations, meals, and incidental expenses. Tuition for this term is included in spring semester for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Freshmen may apply on a space-available basis.
Scholarships
Each winter term one off-campus program is designated as the Freshman Scholarship Program. Ten tuition-only scholarships are awarded to Freshmen for study in a program designed to complement the required course Western Heritage in a Global Context. Scholarship recipients are required to pay airfare, lodging, food, and miscellaneous expenses. Application is made during fall semester, and selection is based on an essay and interview with the faculty leader.
