Why would I need an Eckerd ID Card?

The Eckerd ID card currently has a limited set of uses, some convenient and others critical.

The current critical use of the card is campus identification. Your Eckerd ID may be expected as identification to return to campus in the aftermath of a disaster. While this may seem like a minor item, it would not seem minor if you are not able to get back on campus without one. Our campus security team will only be authorized to let certain campus community members back on campus after a disaster and a valid Eckerd ID will be necessary for that authorization.

The card also:

• Provides access to the 24 hours computer lab in the Armacost Library
• Is used for checking library materials
• Can be used as a meal card with Bon Appetit with the purchase of various meal plans

Planned uses in the future include:

• Allow building access as future buildings are completed
• Provide swipe card access to vending machines
• Allow additional security checking and access at the WelcomeCenter
