Getting Started with WebCT version 6.0

Here are the procedures you should follow to verify you are ready to start working with WebCT 6.0. These should be performed occasionally and with every new computer used.

• Check your web browser —
  • WebCT Tune Up
    This web site will help you determine which web browsers and other applications will work with WebCT.
    • NOTE: We use WebCT version 6.0.
    • Be wary of web browsers not on the official supported list.
    • The note about toolbars and security programs is very, very important. See login loop .
      
      
  • Browser Diagnosis:
    • Georgia Sourthern's
    • Georgia Tech's
      
      
  • AOL's web browser does not work.
    
    
  • Have available an alternative web browser: IE , Netscape , Mozilla We recommend that Windows users use Internet Explorer (I.E.) for WebCT 6.
    
    
• Verify your Java with the Java Troubleshooting Guide . We find this solves most problems.
  
  
• Identify your Username and Password
  • WebCT 6.0 uses your Eckerd College email user name (your email address without the @eckerd.edu part) and your Eckerd College email password to log in to your WebCT 6.0 account.
    
    
  • Students from outside the Eckerd College community should check with their instructor for the account they should use.
