Google Apps: Importing Events and Contacts

Importing contacts from Thunderbird to Gmail

In Thunderbird:

  1. Click "Address Book" in the button bar at the top of the window
  2. Select your Personal Address Book
  3. Click TOOLS, then Export
  4. Select Comma-Separated (CSV)
  5. Save the file to the Desktop as "contacts.csv"

Log into Gmail

  1. Click "Contacts" in the menu on the left side of the window
  2. Click "Import" to the right of the "Search contacts" box
  3. Click the "Browse" button
  4. Choose "contacts.csv" from the desktop
  5. Click the "Import" button

Importing contacts from the Eckerd College IMP Webmail server to Gmail

In Webmail:

  1. Click "Address Book" in the button bar at the top of the window
  2. Click "Import/Export" in the button bar at the top of the window
  3. Under "Export Address Book", choose "Comma Separated Values” from the drop-down menu
  4. Press the "Export" button
  5. Save the file to the desktop as "contacts.csv"

Log into Gmail

  1. Click "Contacts" in the menu on the left side of the window
  2. Click "Import" to the right of the "Search contacts" box
  3. Click the "Browse" button
  4. Choose "contacts.csv" from the desktop
  5. Click the "Import" button

Importing Eckerd College Calendar Express events and tasks into Google Calendar

Log into Calendar Express

  1. Click on Options
  2. Click on Export
  3. Select the calendars you wish to export, iCal format
  4. Select either all events or a date range you wish to copy
  5. Click the "Export" button at the bottom of the screen
  6. Save the file to the desktop as export.ics

Log into Google Calendar

  1. Click on "Calendar Settings" at the top right of the page
  2. Click on the "Calendars" tab
  3. Click "Import Calendar"
  4. Select export.ics from the desktop and the calendar you wish to import the events to
  5. Click the Import button
