Long Distance Instructions
Students in the dorms need to purchase a long distance calling
card to place long distance calls. Students may purchase calling
cards anywhere, however, if you purchase your calling card from the
Eckerd College Bookstore
or cashier
(in Franklin Templeton), and there is a problem with the card, they
will replace it. Eckerd College cannot replace a card from another
source.
Students making a long distance call should first dial “9”, then
enter the phone card code, then the telephone number.
Incoming calls from 1-800-456-9009 and (727) 867-1166 are not
transferable to the dorms.
Long-distance directory assistance
Dial 9 + 1 + area code + 555-1212 and during the fast tone, enter
your 7 digit authorization code. A service fee of $.75 will be
billed to your account.
800-number calls
Dial 9 + 1 + 800 + number and during the fast tone, enter
your 7 digit authorization code. No service fee is charged.
Tampa and Tarpon Springs
exchanges
Dial 9 + (813 for Tampa) + phone number and during the
fast tone, enter your 7 digit authorization code. (No area code
needed to call Tarpon Springs.)
Access to long distance operators
Calls made collect or using credit cards may be made from anywhere
on campus. To reach other long distance carriers, dial 9 + the
carrier code listed below and during the fast tone, enter your 7
digit authorization code. Allow 10 seconds for operator
response.
Rounding, For billing purposes, calls are rounded
to the full minute.
