What Information Does Eckerd Collect?
In the course of ensuring network security and consistent service for all users, ITS at Eckerd employs software programs to do such things as monitor network traffic, identify potential unauthorized access or access to nonpublic information, and to detect computer viruses and other software that might damage College computers or the network. Software is also used to monitor and tune the performance of the College network. In the course of such monitoring, these programs may detect information such as IP addresses, e-mail headers, and addresses from network packets. Information from these activities is used only for the purpose of maintaining the security and performance of the College's networks and computer systems. Personally identifiable information from these activities is not released to internal or external parties without your consent unless required by law or College policy.
If a user has voluntarily made his/her accounts public then the College may monitor, without notice, that person's activities, accounts, and use of College computing resources, including individual login sessions and communications. This may also be done when monitoring appears necessary to protect the integrity, security, or functionality of College resources or to protect the College from liability.
Does Eckerd College Share My Personal Information?
Eckerd College does not sell, rent or share your individual information with third-party marketers, data collection companies or entities outside the College. Financial information is secured according to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 2000 and other non-public information according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Aggregated (consolidated) demographic information which does not reveal individual information may be shared to describe our online visitor base.
