UPCOMING PROGRAMS: Leadership Development Program (August 4-8 & August 18-22 ) | Leadership, Conflict & Negotiation (August 11-13 2008)

Leading Through Mediation

Overview

Leading Through Mediation is a unique 1.5-day program designed to teach participants practical, realistic techniques for managing workplace conflict.  Managers often discover examples of inadequate communication fueled by strained interpersonal relationships underlying the poor performance of others.  The leadership strategies outlined in this seminar enable managers to mediate differences confidently and efficiently in order to increase organizational productivity.

Outcomes

During the program, participants

  • Explore the barriers and bridges to successful conflict resolution
  • Receive feedback from colleagues on how they behave during conflicts
  • Practice new strategies (besides “walk-aways” and “power-plays”) for coping with their own interpersonal conflicts
  • Learn a step-by-step process for mediating differences among direct reports
  • Build a system within their organization for more effective conflict resolution
  • Develop an action plan to address current conflict management issues

Agenda

DAY ONE

Building the foundations for positive relationships
Conflict Dynamics Profile® 360 feedback
Improving self-mediation skills
Mediating conflicts among coworkers

DAY TWO

Applying the process to specific organization challenges
Consulting with a personal feedback coach

Special Features

All participants receive feedback on the Conflict Dynamics Profile®, a 360-degree feedback tool which helps individuals understand how they manage and cope with conflict and how their actions are interpreted by others.  The instrument examines both constructive and destructive ways of responding to conflict and provides feedback from bosses, peers, and direct reports.

The Dana Measure of Financial Cost of Conflict, an online assessment tool, examines several financial factors related to conflict in addition to the impact on quality of work life and job safety.

An individual consultation with a professional staff member helps to integrate program learnings and address developmental opportunities.

This seminar is conducted in cooperation with the Dana Mediation Institute, Inc., an organization dedicated to the prevention, resolution, and strategic management of workplace conflict in organizations worldwide.

Tuition: $1250 per person
