Off Campus access to Online
Databases:
The EZ Proxy connection gives off campus users access to the
Library's network restricted databases. Only Eckerd community
members with active Eckerd email accounts can access the network
restricted databases. If you do not have an active Eckerd email
account or have forgotten your login information, please contact
Information Technology Services at 727-864-8318. Currently only
enrolled students, faculty, staff, and ASPEC members are eligible
for email accounts.
How EZ-Proxy works:
When you try to access a network restricted databases from off
campus, a login web page will appear prompting you to enter your
email user name and password. Once verified, you may begin
searching.
While you are connected to EZ Proxy, the URL will appear, with
LexisNexis as an example,as:
http://80-web.lexis-nexis.com.cgi.eckerd.edu:5000/universe.
Whenever you are in proxy mode, the database URL will be followed
by "cgi.eckerd.edu:5000". If you follow a link beyond the database,
you can either return to the database with your Back button or
return to the library web page and log in again. Closing your
browser or prolonged inactivity will terminate the EZ Proxy
session.
