Trustees Extend Contract of Eckerd College President Donald R. Eastman III to 2014
The Eckerd College Board of Trustees voted unanimously at a meeting this morning to extend the term of President Donald R. Eastman's contract to June 30, 2014. President Eastman has agreed to serve a longer term.
President Eastman began his tenure on July 1, 2001; in 2006, his contract was renewed for a second five-year term. Annually the board's Presidential Assessment and Compensation Committee reviews the President's performance based upon mutually agreed upon goals. Noting the President's continuing exceptional performance and Board goals over the next five years, the Presidential Assessment and Compensation Committee recommended the Board offer the President an early extension of his contract. The Board agreed enthusiastically.
At Friday evening's celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the College's founding, the public phase of the 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign will be launched. Eckerd will announce that $50 million has been raised toward the campaign goal. The Board commended President Eastman for the momentum the College has gained under his leadership.
In an announcement to the Eckerd campus community, Board Chairman Miles C. Collier stated, "President Eastman frequently reminds us that the achievements of the College are not the results of the efforts of any single individual. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you for all you do that contributes to the continuing success of this College."
