Who Should Participate
Anyone interested in our community will benefit from participation in the Civic Engagement Workshop. The program will acquaint you with a cross section of service organizations in Pinellas County. Whether you are a new resident or have lived here for some time, this workshop will provide you with valuable information on how to become more involved in our community through civic engagement.
Program Format
The workshop will consist of six separate sessions scheduled from 8:00 am - 1:30 pm on six consecutive Mondays. The first meeting will focus on developing a global picture of how organizations engage individual volunteers to more effectively serve our community. In addition, you will participate in several activities to help you identify your skills, talents, and interests and how you might match them with community needs.
The next four sessions will be held at various locations in the community where you will learn about specific organizations and how they serve their constituencies. In the past we have focused on the environment, the arts, community health care, safety services, education, and more.
The last session will focus on strategies for becoming engaged with a community organization or project that matches up with a personal passion.
