Family Weekend 2015

February 20-22, 2015

Register NowFamily Weekend! Join us February 20-22 at Eckerd. The weekend officially begins at 4:30 pm on Friday and will wind down by 2:00 pm on Sunday. 

It is $65 per person to register, and each registration includes several meals, all of the activities, and a t-shirt! Register Now!

Friday, February 20

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm | Family Weekend Registration

Pick up your welcome packet for this weekend's list of activities.

9:00 am - 7:00 pm | Campus Bookstore Open
Be sure to use the bookstore coupon found in your Welcome Packet.
Bookstore will also be open on Saturday 8 am - 1 pm.

4:30 pm - 5:30 pm | Family - Faculty Reception
Fox Hall
Please join us for light refreshments and a chance to meet some Eckerd faculty. The Eckerd College Parent’s Council also will be in attendance at this event.

4:30 pm - 6:00 pm | Club Fair sponsored by ECOS 
Hough Quad
There are over 80 clubs and organizations on the Eckerd College campus for students to join. This evening, enjoy strolling through Hough Quad and learning more about these clubs. A picnic-style dinner will be served during this event.

7:00 pm |Environmental Film Festival
Miller Auditorium
Heading into its 17th year, the Visions of Nature, Voices of Nature Environmental Film Festival has brought compelling and important films to the Tampa Bay area and the Eckerd College community in order to raise awareness and promote discussion of questions relating to nature, place, and the environment. Film scholars and filmmakers from around the world engage the audience in lively discussions of the environmental perspectives contained in documentary, animated, experimental and feature films.

9:00 pm | Celebrating Chinese New Year
Hough Quad
Join us as we celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Goat with Kung Fu demonstrations, Chinese food, music, fireworks, airbrush tattoos, a Lion Dance, origami and so much more! This celebration will be a feast for all the senses!

Saturday, February 21

Please join President Eastman and members of the Executive Staff for a continental breakfast. Q & A with the President will begin about 9:00 am.

10:00 am - 4:00 pm | Campus Bookstore Open

10:15 am - 12:00 pm | Break-Out Sessions
Various Campus Locations
Several sessions will be offered for you to learn more about specific Eckerd programs including international education, career services, and service learning. A complete flier with topics and locations will be available during the President’s Breakfast.

1:00 pm | Eckerd College Dog Park Grand Opening
Thanks to the generosity of Jamie and Tim Taft, Eckerd College now has its very own dog park for our furry friends. Please join us for some frolicking of the four-legged kind this afternoon! Light snacks will be served.

Professor of Religious Studies and Coordinator of the Faculty Fellows Davina Lopez, and College Chaplains Doug McMahon and Libby Shannon, and other faculty from a variety of disciplines will lead an informal conversation with parents and students on the topic, "Thinking with the Heart, Feeling with the Mind." While gathering for breakfast, parents and students will have the opportunity to dialogue with faculty and staff, and one another about the "big questions" of life.

12:15 pm - 2:00 pm | Farewell Luncheon
Wallace Boathouse and Waterfront
Before heading home, enjoy lunch at the Waterfront. Boat rides on Boca Ciega Bay will be provided, weather permitting.
