Medical & Legal Considerations
To preserve your own best interests in case you choose to report your assault, we suggest that you do not shower, bathe, douche or change clothes. Any of these actions will destroy important evidence of the crime against you. If your clothes are ripped, or you feel you must change, we recommend you put everything you were wearing into a plastic bag and bring it with you to the hospital.
We suggest that you secure safe transportation to the hospital as soon as possible after the assault. The hospital emergency services staff will not only attend to your physical and medical well being, but they can also obtain valuable medical evidence of your assault. The closest hospital to Eckerd College is Bayfront Medical Center, located in downtown St. Petersburg at 701 6th Street South or dial 823-1234.
